The Indian side had an unexpected visitor at their practice session in Edgbaston on Saturday. PBKS spinner Harpreet Brar visited the team and even bowled during the net session, leaving fans wondering, if he was included in the team. But the reality has finally emerged. Punjab's player Harpreet Brar was in England to visit his in-laws, and during his stay, skipper Shubman Gill extended him an invitation to join the team. In the meantime, a lot of chatter is happening regarding the Indian playing XI for the second Test against England. To begin with is the issue of Jasprit Bumrah, and whether or not he will be selected to play in the match. He bowled 44 incredible overs at Leeds, and his workload management will always be a question. Mohammed Siraj's performance has been fairly average, putting his place in the spotlight. Additionally, Sai Sudharsan and Shardul Thakur are among the players whose impact in the game was minimal. There have been growing voices to bring Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI, that would enable Team India to have an out-and-out wicket-taker. India's Full Squad Against England Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (VC & WK), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. It was their second-best Test successful chase ever. Ben Duckett came out on top with a magnificent 149, and his 188-run opening stand with Zak Crawley (65) laid the foundation for the chase. Joe Root (53*) and debutant Jamie Smith (44*) finished it off with a composed 71-run partnership. Earlier during the previous session, with only under 100 runs needed, Ben Stokes came in with some recklessness and survived a couple of nervy moments, one being a reverse-sweep that almost got him out. Subsequently, it was the same shot on which he got dismissed after holing out at short third to Shubman Gill. India fought back for a while with Prasidh Krishna striking twice, removing Crawley and Pope. Shardul Thakur dismissed Duckett on 149 and Brook the next ball to give hopes, but Root remained composed. Jamie Smith contributed, winning it in style, with two sixes against Jadeja. The chase platform, however, was laid out in the morning by the openers. They defied early intimidation and established themselves after drinks. Duckett's classy strokeplay and Crawley's timing were beyond India's bowlers on a day to remember.
