Axar Patel has heaped praise on Hardik Pandya, calling him the "most confident guy under pressure" following India's triumphant victory over New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy final at the Dubai International Stadium. In an interview with Star Sports after India's four-wicket win, Axar Patel highlighted Hardik Pandya's remarkable attitude in pressure situations and how it is helping the team. "When we are all under pressure, Hardik Pandya is the most confident guy," Axar said. Despite batting lower in the order, Hardik Pandya made the most of his limited opportunities, adding 99 runs throughout the tournament. He also chipped in with the ball, grabbing four wickets in the Champions Trophy. Under Rohit Sharma’s guidance, India won their second ICC title in 12 months. He also added that both the captain and coach make decisions after giving it a good thought. "I believe all the decisions by the captain and the coach (Gautam Gambhir) are after a lot of thought, and we are seeing the result of it today," Axar said. He added that Rohit Sharma understands the role of every player, helping them out in a way and bringing the best out of them. "When it comes to captaincy, he (Rohit) knows exactly where to use each player – that is the hallmark of a great captain. With the trophy in hand, what more can one say about his captaincy? He has led the team and won ICC trophies consecutively," Axar added. Chasing a tricky target of 252 runs in the final against New Zealand, Indian captain Rohit Sharma led from the front with a well-made 76 runs. He stitched a crucial 105-run opening partnership with Shubman Gill, setting a solid foundation for the chase. Though India lost Virat Kohli early, the middle order stood tall to complete the chase. Shreyas Iyer (48), Axar Patel (29), KL Rahul (34), and Hardik Pandya (18) added important cameos and kept the scoreboard ticking. In the end, Ravindra Jadeja sealed the victory by hitting the winning runs.
