Prior to the high-voltage semifinal clash between Australia and India, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh is putting his money on the speedster Mohammad Shami as a threat to Travis. Since the 2023 ODI World Cup to the recent Border Gavaskar Trophy, Travis Head has been a bain to the Indian team. At some points, he seemed impossible for any team. Even in the ongoing 2025 Champions Trophy, he is in top form. Despite a bruised and injured squad, Australia is still a despicable team, even to table topping India. In such a condition, Harbhajan wants Shami to stand up against Head. Even though Shami missed the defeat in BGT, he has been an inevitible part of the defeated Indian team in the 2023 finals. Speaking to Star Sports, Bhajji pleaded, saying, "Three things that Team India needs to do, which will be essential to win against Australia. The first thing is to overcome the fear of Travis Head and get him out. Shami saab, bahut ho gaya Travis Head ka kaam, ab unko run nahi banane dena hai [Shami sahab, enough of Travis Head; he shouldn’t be allowed to score runs now]." Travis Head’s ODI record against India highlights the challenge he presents. In nine innings, he has scored 345 runs at an average of 43.12, with a century in the World Cup final. His attacking style at the top of the order makes him a key player, and Harbhajan Singh emphasizes the importance of restricting his impact. In Australia's first match in this Champions Trophy, Josh Inglish scored a massive 120-run inning enough to dismantle England before they started chasing. Harbhajan Singh thus has further warned India about the lower-order batters, especially Glenn Maxwell and Inglish. He added, "Their lower-order batters, Glenn Maxwell and Josh Inglis, are strong hitters and deal in sixes and fours. They must not be allowed to score runs quickly." Harbhajan advised the Indian team to stay composed in their crucial knockout match. He stressed the importance of keeping things simple despite the high-pressure situation. Instead of overcomplicating strategies, he urged the players to stick to their natural game and approach the contest just as they have throughout the tournament. The scars of the ODI World Cup defeat are still raw to the fans. With India facing Australia in the semis, they will aim for a win not only to reach the final, but to heal the wounds as well.
