The Australian ace pace bowler Josh Hazlewood recently opined that he feels much relief ahead of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) as he won’t be bowling to Cheteshwar Pujara this time. Pujara, who won’t be participating in the BGT series this year was not selected for the Indian squad. Josh Hazlewood, the Aussie fast bowler, is in a good phase right now. Hazlewood didn’t have a good time in Test cricket in recent times but he is all set to make a rock-solid comeback in the BGT series. During the conversation, he said that he was happy as he won’t be facing Pujara this time. As quoted by RevSportz, Hazlewood said: “I am pretty happy that Cheteshwar Pujara is not around this time. He’s someone who spends a lot of time out there and tires out the bowlers. But the depth in Indian cricket is pretty good, and the younger guys have a lot of talent as well.” Cheteshwar Pujara, the veteran Indian batter, had a brilliant outing in both of India’s BGT series wins in Australia. In 2018-19, which was India’s first-ever Test series win in Australia, Pujara was playing as a lone warrior throughout the series. He played 1257 balls during that series and scored 521 runs. In the following BGT series, Cheteshwar Pujara became the sole warrior for the team, standing alone, facing the brutal Aussie pace bowling unit to play a crucial part in India’s second BGT win. In 2020-21, he faced 928 balls and scored 271 runs. The quantity of runs may look less as compared to his previous performance but he left no chance to let Australian bowlers dominate on his Indian team. Cheteshwar Pujara has played 11 Test matches in Australia where he has amassed 993 runs with an average of 47.28 including three centuries and five half centuries.
