India A concluded their first innings at 348 runs on Day 2, having resumed from their Day 1 score of 319/7. Tanush Kotian and Anshul Kamboj were standing at the crease, but England Lions bowler Josh Tongue did not waste any time in completing the innings. Kotian was aggressive early in hitting back-to-back boundaries off Tongue. However, Tongue had the last laugh by serving a length ball that angled in, out-driving Kotian to destroy the stumps. Kotian fell after making 15. Kamboj was caught in front off the fourth ball of Tongue's next over. Though there was some fleeting resistance by Tushar Deshpande and Khaleel Ahmed, a direct hit off Tongue brought the innings to an end at 348. In response, England Lions' openers Ben McKinney and Tom Haines offered a solid start. Indian pacers Kamboj and Khaleel were able to get some swing but their lines were off. McKinney made the most of it with back-to-back boundaries off Khaleel. Kamboj got an opportunity to send McKinney back early, but a simple catch was spilled at the backward point. But the atonement came just two balls later from Kamboj when McKinney edged one to Dhruv Jurel at a low catch. England Lions were at 58/1 at Lunch, behind by 290 runs. Shardul Thakur was in control trouble, delivering four no-balls during his five-over stint. Haines, having made a century in the opening unofficial Test, continued to score a fifty. The Lions accumulated 65 runs in 11 overs post-Lunch without a loss. Deshpande finally broke the stand, bringing an edge from Haines with a fuller delivery outside off which was cleanly caught by Jurel. Haines was gone for a well constructed 54. Play was interrupted by a light drizzle, but before that, England Lions faced Tea at 146/2, behind by 202 runs. Once Tea, Emilio Gay scored his half-century. The left-hand batsman and Jordan Cox constructed a solid 69-run stand. But Kotian came back to get Gay leg-before with a flatter delivery and ended his innings at 71. Skipper James Rew arrived with Cox but inclement light sent the players back to their dressing rooms soon after he joined. England Lions were 192/3, behind by 156 runs, at Stumps on Day 2. Cox was unbeaten on 31, while Rew had not yet scored. Kotian was the best of the Indian bowlers and ended the day with 7-0-21-1.
