Gujarat Titans continued their dominant run in IPL 2026 by beating Kolkata Knight Riders by 5 wickets in Match 25 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. GT extended their stay in the upper half of the table while KKR’s streak extended to a massive five consecutive defeats, almost knocking them out of the tournament. Gill's Masterclass Anchors GT Chase Chasing a target of 181, GT began their chase in a sedate fashion with Sai Sudharsan contributing 22 to the total. Skipper Shubman Gill (POTM) was once again at the forefront for Gujarat and played a magnificent 86 off 50 deliveries. He kept the GT chase alive and played with poise, hitting eight fours and four sixes. Jos Buttler provided support with a quickfire 25 while Washington Sundar added 13 to the chase. GT were in a comfortable position before Cameron Green pulled off a spectacular catch to dismiss Gill in the 17th over giving KKR a slight glimmer of hope. In the closing overs, Glenn Phillips looked to build on the momentum but was caught for 19. Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan guided the GT to victory with two balls remaining. Even though Green performed brilliantly, KKR kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and for GT, Rabada continued to be excellent, bagging 3 wickets and he was well supported by Siraj who bagged 2 wickets. KKR had a slight chance when Green took a spectacular catch of GT skipper and Ramandeep Singh chipped a wicket of Phillips in the final over of the chase. But they failed to hold their nerve to seal a win at the end, their bowlers were inconsistent at crucial times and Gujarat did not break a sweat and chased down the target without any pressure. With 6 successive defeats KKR are precariously positioned to make the playoffs while the Gujarat Titans are set to move ahead to make a playoff spot.
