Shubman Gill is currently in sublime form. While the Gujarat Titans (GT) captain was racking up runs early in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, he had not looked at his fluent best. After a brilliant half-century against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Gill has regained his rhythm. In the last encounter with the Kolkata Knight Riders, he did seem invincible. Bowlers felt the same level of helplessness that they often experience against Virat Kohli. The only difference? Gill can wreak havoc from the very first bullet, though Kohli usually accelerates once he is set. Nothing sweeter than a straight drive like that! 🏏Absolute elegance from Shubman Gill. He started his innings at a brisk pace while his partner Sai Sudharsan was struggling to find his timing. The batsman scored 25 runs off 16 balls in the powerplay. Considering the difficult batting conditions at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, that start was very important. Gill scored another 25 runs in the next 13 balls and completed his half-century in just 29 balls. But the show wasn’t over yet. While Jos Buttler was lighting up the other end, he was simultaneously building up his score. He was in the 80s and looked set to finally score his 6th IPL century. When he attempted to launch Maheesh Theekshana out of the ground, he holed out. His knock of 84 was exceptional, even if it fell short of a century. A hundred was not really a priority here; the focus was more on making the most of his good form.
