In match 19 of IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans have defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad and have secured the all-important two points for themselves in what was an away game for the Titans. Chasing a modest total of 153, GT got home with 20 balls to spare and won the match by 7 wickets. SRH were put in to bat by GT skipper Gill who won the toss on a different looking Hyderabad pitch. It was not the usual 200+ track on offer and SRH were pegged back right from the start as the in-form Siraj took care of both the left-handed SRH openers and in doing so got to 100 IPL wickets as well. Eventually, Siraj finished with career-best T20 figures of 4/17 in 4 overs and set up the match for GT. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klassen did try to steady the sinking ship but their efforts were nowhere near to enough, 31 off 34 for Nitish who consumed a lot of deliveries and could not make up in the end and 27 off 19 for Klassen who holed out against the impressive left-arm spinner Sai Kishore (2/24). Prasidh Krishna (2/25) was effective yet again for GT with his hard lengths getting a couple of wickets too. SRH skipper Pat Cummins played a lovely little cameo of 22* off 9 to take SRH past 150. The run chase - a hiccup then a cruise 153 was a middling total and only thing that could do it for SRH was early wickets, that is exactly what they got. Shami got the in-form Sai Sudarshan in the third over and then in the following one Cummins accounted for Buttler on a duck, the orange army was in full voice at their den as they sensed an opening. In walked GT debutant Washington Sundar and he seemed to be batting on a different pitch altogether. Sundar timed the ball beautifully from the get go, a 20-run over to end the powerplay with Sundar taking down Simarjeet flipped the momentum completely. While Sundar went about his job, there was the silky smooth Shubman Gill at the other end who was at his aesthetic best. The duo put on 90 runs for the third wicket before Sundar fell on 49 to a controversial call from the third umpire. On the other hand, SRH have slipped to their fourth straight loss and their season is looking pear-shaped after a thumping start. They are now firmly at the bottom of the table, just the two points so far. They have the worst net run-rate amongst all teams and are also the only team to have played 5 games as of now.
