Australia have suffered a huge blow before the coming ODI World Cup with batter Grace Harris ruled out due to a calf strain. Western Australia allrounder Heather Graham has been replaced by her. Harris incurred the injury on Saturday while fielding in the third and last ODI against India in Delhi. It was her first ODI match since March 2024, following her recall when Annabel Sutherland was ruled out due to hip soreness. Harris' comeback to the format was short-lived, unfortunately. šØ BREAKING-Big blow for Australia! Grace Harris has been sidelined from the 2025 World Cup after suffering a calf injury. šš pic.twitter.com/vt7kvHdJH7 — CricketGully (@thecricketgully) September 23, 2025 Harris' World Cup Wait Continues Harris was not likely to be picked for the opening Australia XI but was regarded as a likely reserve because of her potential to score useful runs quickly in the lower order. She was also regarded as valuable cover considering Australia's continued injury worries. Phoebe Litchfield sat out the last two ODIs against India with a quad problem, Darcie Brown experienced back cramp, and Sutherland is still coping with her hip issue. Sophie Molineux continues to recover from a serious knee injury, with Georgia Wareham having just returned from a groin strain. Skipper Alyssa Healy, who struggled with foot problems, played all three games in India. She was included in the 2022 Australian squad but played no matches. She pushed her way back into the frame for the 2025 competition after a strong stint in English domestic cricket. Harris scored 338 T20 Blast runs for Surrey at a strike rate of 156, including a final-winning 63* off the batting order, and followed that with the same form into The Hundred with 214 for London Spirit. Graham Gets Her Chance Heather Graham, 28, has been given the nod. Although she only has a single ODI cap that was earned in 2019, Graham has been with Australian teams for years and is an experienced campaigner. She had played international cricket most recently in September 2024 in a T20I series. Graham will meet the team after finishing Western Australia's first two matches of the Women's National Cricket League. She is scheduled to catch up with the Australian team in India prior to their warm-up game against England in Bengaluru next Sunday. Harris will head back home to start her recovery and is to concentrate on getting fit for the Women's Big Bash League to begin November 9.
