Gautam Gambhir's tenure as the head coach of the Indian cricket team started off on a roller coaster note. India whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0 in the three-match T20I series but lost the following ODI series 0-2. The world knows about Gambhir's strong passion for cricket. He has also been different from Rahul Dravid, who handed over the job to him after India's T20 World Cup win in the Caribbean. Gambhir also shares a close bonding with many current players because he used to be their teammate a few years back. His former teammate Aakash Chopra spoke about their early days when they both had been competing against each other to get into the Delhi team. That rivalry, according to him, just helped them improve as players. In this regard, speaking on a podcast with Raj Shamani, Chopra said Gambhir's hunger and on-field aggression have always been abreast. In a podcast with Raj Shamani on YouTube, Chopra said: "We were competitors, fighting for one place. We had a very good team. When we were playing, either Kohli or Dhawan could get a chance in the line-up. The team was like that. In fact, there was no place for even Viru [Virender Sehwag] to open the batting." Chopra further added: "We were competitors to begin with. He [Gambhir] wasn’t a friend, to be honest. (But he was a) very passionate guy, very hard-working, and very serious about his craft. And he scored a lot of runs. But he always wore his heart on the sleeve, was extremely passionate, and could short-fuse very quickly in terms of temperament." Gautam Gambhir's Fight with Truck Driver He further told stories of Gautam Gambhir's aggressive nature. He remembered how Gambhir got into an argument with a truck driver. "He has always been like that temperamentally. You never know when he loses his cool. He used to tell us that he fought with a truck driver. He got off his vehicle, climbed up the truck and held the driver’s collar because he overtook." Also Read | Top 5 Fights in IPL Cricket History that Created Headlines
