Jasprit Bumrah returned to the Indian dressing room after undoing scans in a nearby hospital. On day 2 of the fifth Test at Sydney Cricket Ground, on January 4, Bumrah left the field having bowled an over after the lunch. He had a chat with Virat Kohli before leaving. The fans predicted that he might be resting in the dressing room. But the commentators informed that he went for scans. Shortly after, footage was shown where he boarded a car with the staff from the team. According to a report of India Today, "Bumrah was taken to a hospital in the Centennial Park area in Sydney. He has been taken to St Vincent's Hospital. He has a back issue and that is being scanned right now. The team will get the report by evening," Bumrah was back in the third session, while commentators stated that they have no further information. After the day's play, in the press conference, Prasidh Krishna confirmed that Bumrah was having back spasms. He said, "He had a back spasm. He had gone for scans. The medical team is monitoring him. We will know whenever the medical team gets back to us."
