The Australian explosive batter Travis Head had fitness concerns as he missed the practice session on Monday. He reportedly suffers from a tight quad, an issue disturbing him since the Gabba Test. However, he had a brief net session of around 20 minutes on Tuesday. He later had a long chat with team physiotherapist Nick Jones, adding more uncertainty over his fitness. Head also avoided running as much as he could during the fielding drills. Meanwhile, the physio clarified that Head is yet to tick all the boxes before being declared fully fit. After Australia's first full training session at the MCG, coach Andrew McDonald said, "He's been doing everything he can to be ready, and while there are a few boxes to tick, we expect him to play. The chat was mostly about his fielding position and what he can do there." Having Head suffer from uncertainty just two days before the Boxing Day Test, it can be a massive blow for the hosts. He smashed two consecutive Test centuries against India—at Adelaide and at the Gabba. In the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy, Head is still the highest scorer, amassing 409 runs at an average of 81.80. He literally targeted every bowler, becoming a massive threat for India. With both teams entering the fourth Test with a 1-1 scoreline, Head's presence will be crucial.
