Australia is currently leading the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1 after winning the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). For India, it has been a tough series with not much to celebrate. However, Jasprit Bumrah has been a standout player for the team. The star pacer has taken 30 wickets in four matches, making him the highest wicket-taker so far. Bumrah has been India's key bowler on this tour and will aim to keep up his good form. He will look to help India level the series in the New Year's Test, starting on January 3 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The legendary Australian commentator Glenn McGrath has come forward with his opinion on Bumrah's contribution to the team in the context of the ongoing series. He was of the view that the series would have been a lot more in Australia's favour had Bumrah not produced his magical bowling spells that he has delivered so far. Here is what Mcgrath said while speaking at a press conference ahead of the Pink Test in Sydney “He has been a massive part of the Indian team and without him, the series might have been more one-sided and what he does is special. Terrific young guy who has found a way to adapt. Absolutely incredible how he powers into bowl the last few steps,” “(On Bumrah's action) Got a little bit of hyperextension, which I used to have as well. He is coping with it and has incredible control both ways, guess they are managing him well. I am a massive fan of Jasprit," he added. Overall, the dreamy year was 2024 for Bumrah as well, with a total of 71 wickets in 13 Tests. Nominated for the Test Cricketer of the Year is also the same. The pace bowler even achieved the best rating ever on the bowlers' list. The Indian reached 907 ratings, surpassing the record formerly held by Ravichandran Ashwin for 904 rating points.
