Indian star batsman Virat Kohli and Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell share a great bond of friendship on and off the cricket field. They are part of the same IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Their friendship may have turned into a great permanent bond but it was bitter in the initial phases. Glenn Maxwell recently shared that the Indian batting icon had blocked him on social media after a playful remark back in 2017 went south. This incident took place during the 2017 Border-Gavaskar Trophy when Australia was in India for the Test series. Maxwell, in what was meant to be a playful gesture, mimicked Kohli’s injured stance by holding his own shoulder while Australia was fielding. The act was intended as light-hearted but it was misinterpreted by Virat. In a recent chat with LiSTNR sport, Maxwell recounted an interesting conversation he had with Kohli during a pre-IPL training session, reflecting on the incident that had caused an unexpected rift between them. In a conversation with LiSTNR sport, Maxwell said: "When I knew that I was going to RCB, Virat was the first guy to message me and welcome me to the team. When I turned up for the pre-IPL training camp, we obviously got chatting and spent a fair bit of time training together as you do. So I go to his social media to follow him. Didn't even think about it before that. Never really crossed my mind. I was like 'I can’t find him.' I'm sure he's on social media somewhere, so I didn't think anything of it. Not really that maybe he wasn't savvy with Instagram. Didn't really understand why he wasn't coming up and then someone mentioned that he might have blocked me. That is the only way you’re not able to find him. I was like surely not.” Glenn Maxwell shared that he only discovered that Virat Kohli had blocked him on Instagram after bringing up the issue with him. When they discussed it, Virat quickly unblocked him. He further said: "Then I went and asked him, 'have you blocked me on Instagram'? And he was like, 'yeah probably. It was when you mocked me during that Test match. I think I got the s**t and decided to block you. I was like 'yeah, that's fair enough'. So yeah, he ended up unblocking me, and we became great friends after that."
