He also thanked teams and fans for their consistent support. In his tweet, Maxwell wrote: “After many unforgettable seasons in the IPL, I’ve decided not to put my name into the auction this year. It’s a big call, and one I make with a lot of gratitude for everything this league has given me. The IPL has helped shape me as a cricketer and as a person. I’ve been lucky to play with world-class teammates, represent incredible franchises, and perform in front of fans whose passion is unmatched. The memories, the challenges, and the energy of India will stay with me forever." Maxwell is not the only player who has shifted to PSL. Other famous players such as David Warner, Kane Williamson, Faf du Plessis, and Moeen Ali have also shifted to PSL. They skipped the IPL auction and shifted to PSL. Many players are in the last phase of their careers and did not want to remain unsold in the auction. The decision to shift to PSL comes during Maxwell’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup 2026. He has scored only 62 runs in three innings with an average of 20.67. Despite his poor performance, Hyderabad Kingsmen have shown immense faith in his capabilities. They think that his experience and match-winning abilities can help them form a strong team. Maxwell will receive around ₹1.47 crore in PSL 2026. This amount is lower than his ₹4.20 crore income in Punjab Kings in IPL 2025. However, this decision will give him a fresh start and an opportunity to prove himself again.
