Glenn Maxwell was completely bamboozled by Varun Chakaravarthy’s wrong ’un. On the first ball of the 10th over, Varun pitched it on a good length outside off. Maxwell stepped forward but couldn’t pick the variation. Unsure whether to defend or leave, he hesitated, and by the time he tried to bring his bat down, it was too late. The ball spun sharply between bat and pad and rattled the stumps. Despite a blazing start from Priyansh Arya (22 off 12) and Prabhsimran Singh (30 off 15), their momentum was quickly derailed by Harshit Rana, who picked up three key wickets early on, including skipper Shreyas Iyer for a duck. The middle order offered little resistance, with Maxwell (7), Inglis (2), and Wadhera (10) failing to settle. Varun Chakaravarthy’s spin magic fetched two crucial wickets, while Narine and Nortje chipped in. Shashank Singh’s 18 was the only notable knock in the second half. A disappointing outing for PBKS.
