Continuing with a splendid form in IPL 2025, Shubman Gill played yet another great knock on Monday. Playing against his former team-Kolkata Knight Riders, Gill made another solid knock as the Gujarat Titans skipper, scoring a beautiful fifty to stabilize his team's innings. This was his first fifty against KKR post his move from Eden Gardens to Ahmedabad in 2022. Gill was really close to scoring a century, but went on to dismiss with a brilliant 90 runs off 55 balls. Initially a teen playing at Eden Gardens, Gill made a homecoming as Gujarat Titan's captain. And with Sai Sudharsan on his heels, Gill fought to gradually build momentum for himself after a cautious start before finding rage back-to-back boundaries off Harshit Rana. After settling, however, he looked to take on Moeen Ali. Gill punished him with a maximum over mid-wicket, slashed to third man, and finished his attack with a fine sweep for yet another boundary while attacking his seam, all in a span of five balls. He scored his third fifty of the season in just 34 balls for KKR, which is for him his first fifty against that franchise. He narrowly missed one in 2023, getting 49 at Eden Gardens. This is also his fourth fifty in 15 innings at that ground, which cements it as a fort for the GT skipper. Gill started narrating his IPL story with KKR back in 2018 soon after a stellar U19 World Cup. He quickly made his way up to being a prominent player and a part of the leadership group under Brendon McCullum and Eoin Morgan. After two successive seasons of over 400 runs, he shifted to the Gujarat Titans in 2022. There, in his arrival season, he clinched the title and was appointed as captain last season, further establishing himself as a franchise stalwart.
