Babar’s fifty came under pressure but the intent he showed during his innings was questionable. Not trying to play any big shots or even trying to attack NZ’s key bowler. Ashwin on his YouTube channel ‘Ash Ki Baat’ said that he is a big fan of Babar Azam undoubtedly but he also mentioned that Babar’s struggling knock against New Zealand was painful to watch. Babar's knock was very difficult to watch.” Further talking about Babar Azam in that same video, Ashwin mentioned that Babar lacked intent that day, it was gone missing. He also said that Babar's shot range has been restricted and he is not able to take risks and play freely when required. He further said: "Intent kahan tha. Ghar pe rakh ke aaya tha kya? (Where was the intent? Did you keep it at your home? I actually feel that, coming into the match, Babar Azam didn’t create shot options for himself. "He doesn’t have any shots, there’s no shot for square of the wicket, no sweep, no reverse sweep, bottom hand is closed. There are no shots in his armoury. Such innings weren’t even played in the 1990s.” If talking about the current situation of Pakistan, then the hosts are already on the brink of a group exit if they lose their next match to India. Currently, in a do-or-die situation for the hosts but their woes got extended when their ace batter Fakhar Zaman got ruled out due to an oblique injury.
