South Africa fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has been sidelined from the team for at least six weeks due to a groin injury he suffered during Day 4 of the first Test against Sri Lanka. This will lead him to miss at least three tests—one against Sri Lanka and two against Pakistan. With Coetzee's departure, the right arm Kwena Maphaka will play in his place, a young rookie who made his international debut earlier this year in a T20 match against West Indies. On Day 4, in the morning, Coetzee had to stop bowling as he picked up an injury in his right groin, but not before dismissing Dinesh Chandimal post-lunch. Shukri Conrad, South Africa head coach, clarifies that Coetzee faced a niggle in his groin and was strapped up totally after the break.
