Indian cricket legend, Sachin Tendulkar is recognized as one of the best cricket players ever. He holds the major records, such as most runs in ODIs and Tests, most centuries in all formats, most capped cricketer of all time, etc. Even today, Sachin Tendulkar is still regarded as the 'God' of Cricket' But records are meant to be broken in cricket. Last year, Kohli broke the record of most ODI centuries by Tendulkar, and now the record of the most Test runs by Sachin appears to be in danger. Joe Root, the classy batsman from England, is edging closer towards Sachin's record. Root is 3519 runs behind him and just 33 years old. With at least 4 more years of playing left, it seems like Tendulkar's record won't stay for long, and Root might be on top in the coming time. Last week, Michael Vaughan joked that if Root beats Sachin's record, the BCCI will ensure that an Indian takes it back. Sunil Gavaskar didn't like that particular comment. As per Sportstar, Sunil Gavaskar stated "This business of India bashing has to be countered with aggression because that’s the only language they understand. Recently, I heard someone saying it would be good for Test cricket if Joe Root overtook Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most runs and centuries in Test match cricket," "Please tell us what's wrong with Test cricket presently when Tendulkar is owning the record and how will Test cricket be better if (and that's a huge if) an Englishman goes on to hold it. In what way will it be better? Kindly enlighten us. For some strange reason, there’s a perception overseas that BCCI does not like Test cricket." Team India have already played in the first two World Test Championship finals and appear on course for a third successive appearance next year. Over the coming months, India play 10 Test matches - starting with a two-match series against Bangladesh next week. "That's a ridiculous notion, as India play more than half a dozen Test matches every season, be it at home or away. Just because the IPL is massively successful doesn’t mean BCCI is not interested in promoting Test cricket, but that's the narrative that's being peddled by the overseas media," Also Read | Ex-IPL Star Kamran Khan to Make Comeback in Pro Cricket League
