During the five-match Anderson Tendulkar Series, Kuldeep Yadav was one of the most talked-about bowlers for missing out on all the matches despite being a specialized bowler. During the series, India was going for batting till eight and KD not being able to bat wasn't considered. However, he seems okay with the decision and in no mood to sacrifice his main art just to fit in with the team.   Kuldeep addressed the media on Thursday  in the pre-match pressy, and made a clear stand on his role. Kuldeep looks at himself as a wicket-taker, and if he fails at that, he doesn't see a spot for himself on the team. KD said,   "If I play in any team, I will play as a (specialist) bowler. My job is to take wickets. If I don't take wickets, there will be no place for me. It is very important to understand that when you play as a proper bowler, your job is to take wickets for the team."   Read also: Afghanistan Coach Hails Suryakumar Yadav’s India as Title Contenders   Kuldeep Yadav on England series snub   While Kuldeep was asked about him not playing the Test series against England, he said that there was clear communication from the head coach, Gautam Gambhir.    Even though Kuldeep, at some point, felt that he could have been in some matches, he was still fine with that. He said,   "No, there was clear communication. Sometimes, in 3-4 matches, I felt that I could play, but unfortunately, I couldn't play. Gauti bhai (Gambhir) was very straightforward. Sometimes, I felt that I could play, but as you know, because of the batting combination, I couldn't. But there was nothing about skill or batting."   Read also: "Why kill the goose that lays the golden egg?" He added, a few more things before he joined the Indian team again for the Asia Cup, 2025. He said,   "When you don't play, you learn a lot and you become a better player. Because you have a lot of ideas about how to react in a situation. It is very easy to blame someone. And it is very tough to accept things in your stride and strive to improve."   He added,   "The soul searching is very important. What am I weak at? What should I work on? How should I become a better player? There are two ways. The player chooses which path he wants to travel. But it is very important that you keep working hard. Don't leave anything. When you don't play, you have time to work on yourself."   Kuldeep Yadav further said that practice sessions are meant for skill improvement and that one should aim to become a better player whenever given a chance. He admitted being very critical of his own bowling and felt he was not yet at his full potential, despite having an impressive T20I record.   He acknowledged making mistakes while reading batters in this format and stressed the need to work more on his bowling across formats. When asked about batting, he mentioned that he is not worried but always bats during available sessions, believing that batting in match scenarios is crucial for improvement.
