Shaheen Afridi is no doubt one of the Pakistani best fast bowlers who had not been doing well for almost a year. This might be the cause he misses the second Test for Pakistan against Bangladesh. However, Afridi has been termed as one of the best Pakistani players who effectively contributed to win numerous matches and was also ranked in the list of the world's best bowlers. He had staged a quite steep hike in his last twelve months of test bowling average, which was 42.90, as against his overall career average of 27.08. Similarly, his ODI average was also at an all-time high of 26.72 as against an overall average of 23.94. The head coach pointed out that Afridi has bowled the most overs of any fast bowler in the last 18 months and said handling the workload of fast bowlers like Afridi and Naseem Shah needs proper resting. Kirsten said while commenting during Pakistan's Champions Cup. "Fast bowlers are always under immense pressure to deliver and win games. When we look at our key resources, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah have carried the bulk of the workload for Pakistan across all formats. Shaheen has bowled three times more overs than any other fast bowler in the world over the last 18 months. That's alarming—you’re bound to wear him down eventually," Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah are playing in the Champions 50 Over Cup right now. Afridi is with the Lions, and Shah is with the Markhors. Both bowlers have done well in the two games played so far, taking five wickets each. In recent times, the Pakistani fast bowler, Shaheen Afridi has taken 96 wickets in 54 innings at an average of 24.19. In Test cricket, Afridi played in five matches in the last 18 months, where he bowled 191.2 overs and took mere handfuls of wickets, averaging 40.81.
