In a shocking move, Gary Kirsten, the head coach of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket team, has reportedly stepped down from his role. The Pakistan team will travel without a head coach for their upcoming tours to Australia and Zimbabwe. According to a Cricbuzz report, tensions have escalated due to significant disagreements between Gary Kirsten and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The conflict increased when the PCB turned down Kirsten's proposal to appoint David Reid as the High-Performance coach, suggesting alternatives that Kirsten found unsatisfactory. Early defeats to the USA and India resulted in Pakistan’s swiftest exit from a T20 World Cup, as they were eliminated in the opening round after just three matches. A few months later, Babar Azam would step down as the white-ball captain for a second time. With less than four months until the Champions Trophy, Pakistan's first time hosting an ICC event in over two decades, Kirsten’s potential departure could be a significant setback for the team. His replacement for the upcoming tours of Australia and Zimbabwe remains uncertain. Pakistan’s series in Australia kicks off in just six days, with the first ODI scheduled for November 4 in Melbourne. The PCB is likely to move quickly in selecting a replacement. Jason Gillespie, the current red-ball coach, might also take on white-ball coaching duties. However, it seems more probable that the PCB will appoint Aaqib Javed as the white-ball coach. Currently serving as a national selector, Aaqib has been widely praised for his role in the recent series win against England.
