Claims regarding Rohit Sharma's paternal leave have been a debate since the news broke out. Many critics have commented on this, with few supporting the captain's decision and few heavily critiquing it. Former Indian captain Saurav Ganguly joins the list, however, urging, rather hoping that Rohit Sharma may leave soon for the Perth Test. The Border Gavaskar Trophy will kick off on November 22, with the first test being played in Perth's Optus Stadium. Reports said that Rohit Sharma will not be playing the first test owing to the birth of his second child. Even though the Indian head coach gautam Gambhir has not confirmed any thing yet, it is evident that the captain has not traveled to Australia with the team. On November 15, Rohit's wife announced the birth of their second child. Following that, Ganguly is hopeful that Rohit may join the team as soon as possible for the Perth Test. While speaking to the RevSportz, "I hope Rohit Sharma goes very soon, because the team needs leadership. I believe his wife has delivered a baby boy yesterday night so I am sure he can leave. He can leave as early as possible and if I was in his position, he should be playing the Perth Test." He added, "The match is a week away. Because it is a big series, he will not go to Australia after this, he is a fantastic captain. India needs his leadership to start with." A totally dismantled batting line-up, companied by blows and injuries, India is in sheer confusion ahead of the do-or-die series for the World Test Championship final. Earlier, Rishabh Pant got a blow on his hands while practicing. According to a report from Fox Sports, Sarfaraz Khan too got a hit on his elbow, for which he left the practice session. However, none had any issues to pad up for the simulation match. KL Rahul, who was expected to be the substitute opener for Rohit Sharma, left the field injured after a short-pitched delivery hit Rahul's elbow. Gill, another potential opener, is no scene for at least 14 days, as he has fractured his thumb while fielding in the intrasquad simulation match. In that case, Abhimany Eswaran may take the spot. But for a safer side, the off-form yet experienced Rohit Sharma is necessary to give a better start to a recently shaken India due to a 0-3 whitewash in the home test series against New Zealand.
