Lanka T10 franchise Galle Marvels owner Prem Thakkur was arrested on Thursday, December 12, for charges of match-fixing. This development happened just a day after the tournament commenced; that is, the first-ever edition. Thakkur, an Indian national, was arrested from his hotel in Kandy by the Sri Lanka Sports Police Unit. It is being said that a foreign player had reported a fixing approach by Thakkur. According to procedure, an ICC anti-corruption official has been attending the tournament like LPL last year. However, with the development, Lanka T10 tournament director Samantha Dodanwela confirmed that the first edition would go ahead as scheduled. Meanwhile, the SLC has not come out with any statement on the matter yet. The Galle Marvels comprise some big names in the fixture and are led by Sri Lankan keeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella and T20 World champion Alex Hales. The incident might raise some problems for the franchise in the future. The fans of the Marvels will be hoping that they can put the problems aside and continue holding on to their lead at the top of the table.
