Former Pakistan captain and 1992 World Cup-winning leader, Imran Khan, has mocked Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi following his team’s consecutive defeats to India in the Asia Cup. Speaking via his sister Aleema Khan, the imprisoned cricketer-turned-politician suggested only Naqvi and Army Chief Gen Asim Munir could open the batting if Pakistan hoped to win against India. Aleema Khan conveyed her brother’s statement to reporters on Monday, saying: “The only way Pakistan can beat India is if Army Chief Gen Munir and PCB Chairman Naqvi open the batting, with former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja as umpires.” She added that Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar should act as the third umpire. Khan, 72, also held Naqvi accountable for harming Pakistani cricket through “incompetence" and “nepotism." He blamed Gen Munir for allegedly undermining his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in the February 2024 general elections with the assistance of former CJP Isa and Chief Election Commissioner Raja. Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023 on multiple charges.
