Sanju Samson, the Rajasthan Royals captain, has been at the center of discussions after several reports saying that he has expressed his urge to leave RR and join Chennai Super Kings. As the trading rumors are going on, former CSK batter Subramaniam Badrinath sensed that it might be Riyan Parag that might make Samson feel the urge to leave the franchise. Notably, Riyan Parag was the stand-in skipper for Rajasthan Royals in the 2025 IPL, as Samson was dealing with a finger injury. Dhruv Jurel was keeping wickets, while Samson was playing as a specialized batter. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Badrinath explained, “I feel Riyan Parag is the reason. If you consider him for captaincy, how do you expect someone like Samson to stay?" Well, Cricbuzz sensed that Samson, who has been playing as an opener might loose that place too. With Yashasvi Jaiswal already opening, RR got the new 14-year-old talent vaibhav Suryavanshi that has pushed Samson to number three. However, even if Samson joins Chennai Super Kings, the question arises, where will he be fitting himself? CSK have their top-order batters set, especially after they added the Mumbaikar Ayush Mhatre mid-season. Otherwise, there is Ruturaj Gaikwad, and they have added Dewald Brevis too. Well, Badrinath reasoned that Samson can be a replacement for MS Dhoni. He can keep wickets and also bat in the top three, as the middle order or lower order won't suit his style. Badrinath explained, “If Sanju Samson does come to CSK, then he could be the like-for-like replacement for MS Dhoni. Samson is a batter who can bat in the top three or four spots in the batting order. He is not someone who could fit in the number five or six spot in the playing XI. CSK are strong in those areas of the playing XI. Mhatre is settled, Gaikwad is settled, Brevis is settled." He further added, “I am not sure if CSK would do a transaction like MI did to get Hardik Pandya from GT. So even if Sanju Samson comes in, the question remains whether CSK can fit him into the playing XI."
