Floodlight malfunctioning is a very rare in a high-profile tournament like the IPL but things have not been pretty gloomy in Dharamsala which is where match number 58 between PBKS and DC is being played today (May 8). It was rain which prevented an on-time start to the match as the heavens opened up before the toss which was scheduled for 7 PM IST. The rain forced the encounter to be pushed by an hour as instead of the regular start time of 7:30 PM IST, the match began at 8:30 PM IST after the rain fell for a good part of an hour. The home skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bat first and his young openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh did not disappoint at all. At the start it looked like one of those rare moments when a floodlight tower goes off and gets back on after some repair as Shreyas Iyer walked in to join Prabhsimran Singh in the middle. At first, one floodlight went off and then a couple more followed in a few minutes time as darkness started to mark its territory over the stadium with the players walking off. Around 10-15 minutes later, the news broke out that the match has indeed been called off due to what could possibly be more than technical issues due to which both the teams will get a point each. The authorities were quick to ask the stadium to be vacated due to security concerns under the recent events in and around the border areas of India-Pakistan. It was supposed to host the match between PBKS and MI as well on May 11 but that game has already been shifted to Ahmedabad in light of the prevailing conditions.
