The top order of Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025 has been one of the most dependable, especially their openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, who have both scored over 600 runs this season. Their openers have generally survived the powerplay in most of the matches, and even when they have lost wickets early, they hadn’t lost more than two inside the powerplay until their last match against LSG. However, in a must-win match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Titans lost three wickets in the first six overs, for the first time this season. Chasing a mammoth target of 231, Gujarat Titans started off with a quick 24-run stand for the first wicket, but Gill couldn’t add much to his tally, getting dismissed for just 13 runs. The Titans then lost two more wickets, Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford, in successive overs, which completely broke their momentum. With the tournament in its business end, GT, one of the top teams that reached this stage on the back of a strong top-order, has struggled to perform with the bat in the last two matches.
