India will play a two-match Test series against South Africa, with the first one starting on November 14 in Kolkata's Eden Gardens. The Indian players were busy playing the away white-ball series against Australia. According to reports from PTI, three Indian cricketers will directly fly to Kolkata directly from Brisbane. The cricketers are supposed to check in this evening. The report from PTI quoted a local manager saying, "Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel will fly directly to Kolkata from Brisbane. They are expected to check in by evening." Apart from these three, the ace pacer Mohammad Siraj, who was not a part of the Australia series, will be coming to Kolkata today. Meanwhile, the South Africa team will reach Kolkata this evening. When will the practice resume? The Test match will start on 14th that means Friday, and the practice is likely to resume on Tuesday. Notably, a few of the Indian cricketers assigned for the Test series, like KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Shruv Jurel, are likely to join the squad on Monday. The rest of the squad is also expected to assemble on Monday. The team features senior pros like Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Siraj, blended with young names like Devdutt Paddikal, Nitish Reddy, and Sai Sudharsan. Also, it will mark the official comeback of the Indian star wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. Pant had suffered from a blow from a ball crushing his left foot in the Manchester Test off Chris Woakes. Since then, Rishabh has been out from any competitive cricket until he represented Delhi in a few matches of the ongoing Ranji Trophy series. He was later leading India A in the two-match unofficial Test series against South Africa A at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. he announced his arrival with a match-saving 90-run knock in the second innings of the first match. However, he had to walk out after suffering from several blows, including one on the wrist and the other on his helmet, in the second Test. Currently, Rishabh Pant's comeback is uncertain even though there is enough time for him to recover if the injuries are minor. India vs. South Africa: Test Series The opening Test of the series against South Africa will take place at Eden Gardens on November 14, with the second Test scheduled in Guwahati on November 22. India began their current World Test Championship campaign with a 2-2 away draw against England, followed by a comprehensive victory over the West Indies at home in October. The previous Test series between India and South Africa was held in December 2023–January 2024, ending in a 1-1 draw, with matches hosted in Cape Town and Centurion. South Africa last toured India in October 2019, when the Indian team dominated the series, winning all three matches in Vizag, Pune, and Ranchi.
