The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has abruptly called off their National Women's Championship after a fire broke out in the team hotel. The PCB had booked an entire floor for the five competing sides and team officials. With the fire breaking out there, the board decided to pause it, fearing the safety of the players. A source has informed, that fire showed up barring five players. However, all other cricketers and officials were either at the National Stadium or in the nets session. The source said, "Five players were in their rooms when the fire broke out. It has caused damage to some property of the players and officials." PCB made an official statement saying, "PCB has decided to curtail the National Women's One-Day Tournament 2024-25 in Karachi following a fire incident at the team hotel. Fortunately, no players were injured, as the PCB promptly evacuated the five players in the hotel at the time of the incident and relocated them safely to the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre." Final's date and venue yet to be decided PCB looked for an alternative hotel, but the Ideas Defence Exhibition being held in Karachi restricted doing so, as the team would require a bulk of 100 rooms together. Thus, keeping in mind the safety issues, PCB decided to truncate the tournament. The statement further added, "To determine the tournament winner, the PCB has decided that the Invincibles and the Stars -- the top two teams after four matches each will face off in the final. The date and venue for the final will be announced in due course."
