Pakistan is all set to host an ICC event after a long wait of 29 years and is reportedly getting ready for a dazzling aerial show featuring several fighter jets. According to the media reports from the Pakistan Air Force, jets including JF-17 Thunder, F-16, and Sher Dill will perform in the sky over the Karachi Stadium, which will be hosting the first match of the Champions Trophy 2025, between New Zealand and host Pakistan. Prior to the opening match, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi sounded confident, guaranteeing top-class security for the players and support staff for all other 6 countries touring Pakistan. Naqvi mentioned about the hospitality services as well and was quoted as saying, “We are ready to host the event in a successful manner and also provide the best experience and facilities to the spectators who come to the grounds.” Former President Asif Ali Zardari will be the chief guest at the opening match between Pakistan and New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi. He emphasized that Pakistan is fully prepared to host the prestigious tournament, considering it a great opportunity to demonstrate that all teams are welcome to play in the country. While India has declined to travel for the event, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has enforced strict security protocols to ensure the safety of visiting teams. Reports suggest 12,000 police personnel will be deployed for matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi. This includes 18 senior officers, 54 DSPs, 135 inspectors, 1,200 upper subordinates, 10,556 constables, and over 200 female officers. To enhance convenience, the PCB has arranged special charter flights through Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for teams and fans, operating between Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore. The event will follow a hybrid model, with Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) sharing hosting responsibilities. Matches in Pakistan will take place at three venues—Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi—while Dubai will host the remaining games. Notably, India will play all its matches in Dubai.
