Mumbai is once again in the muddle despite a good start from Rohit Sharma (28) and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second innings. They lost three wickets in the matter of just three runs, reducing them to 57 for 3 from 54-0 in no time. Situation would have worsened if Shreyas Iyer would have been declared out on the delivery of Umar Nazir. Nazir, who has already castled Hardik Tamore in this innings was successful to find an edge of Iyer's bat while the batter was at the score of eight in the 19th over. Jammu and Kashmir's wicketkeeper, Kanhaiya Wadhawan caught the ball and there was a huge appeal for caught behind. The visual clearly shows that there was a clear edge, and it can be confirmed with the sound as well. However, Umpire S Ravi didn't hear it and hence, he declared Iyer as not out. A wicket here would have made things difficult for Mumbai the score would have 66 for 4. Post this, the cricket fans have taken it to the social media saying that it's an unacceptable error, some demanded for the DRS in such games. Fans also said that Iyer should have walked out despite being adjudged as not out by the umpire. Is that a game-changing decision? #RanjiTrophy — Gaurav Gupta (@toi_gauravG) January 24, 2025 Such a big edge from Shreyas Iyer and the umpire denies it! Ridiculous. That’s how umpires work in domestic cricket. Quite a few decisions have gone against J&K since yesterday, which is not done at all. #RanjiTrophy #MUMvsJK — Mohsin Kamal (@64MohsinKamal) January 24, 2025 Wow there was a very audible edge on that .. Umpire S Ravi must have really low level of hearing to miss that edge from Shreyas Iyer.. Mumbai really really lucky here. — Gaurav Nandan | เคเฅเคฐเคต เคจเคเคฆเคจ (@Cric_Beyond_Ent) January 24, 2025 This Mother fu*** umpire is cheating, clear edge lga tha Shreyas Iyer ka Puri sound aayi thi, khelna benchodo ko aata nhi, domestic k players se pil rhe hai, fir bolte hai australia cheating krti hai tum bhadwe log issi kabil hai#RanjiTrophy — KPTAAN ๐ (@real_kptaan) January 24, 2025 Clear Edge. Shreyas Iyer saved by the umpire. @ShreyasIyer15 bhai hamari gali mai match hai ayenge kya. — ู ุญ (@MohasinIqbal) January 24, 2025 That Shreyas Iyer edge was blatant robbery in day light. Like if S Ravi can’t hear that edge, he should stop umpiring. Things are very shady here. https://t.co/k3xvxGUAe5 — Gaurav Nandan | เคเฅเคฐเคต เคจเคเคฆเคจ (@Cric_Beyond_Ent) January 24, 2025 S Ravi gives probably game changing decision against Jammu and a Kashmir … shreyas Iyer nick the whole world saw it accept Ravi from 23 yards or there about. What a goof up ..@BCCI # Ranji trophy — G Viswanath (@Vishy10) January 24, 2025 Umpire Ravi past his prime. BCCI should take note. Shreyas Iyer snick heard by all in field, commentators too unanimous. Poor stuff. DRS needed, otherwise these mistakes will keep going unnoticed! — Rana Banerji (@RanaBanerji) January 24, 2025 Atrocious umpiring in the Mumbai Ranji game. Shreyas Iyer totally thick edged a ball to keeper and stood his ground like a clown. — Sam Mathad (@sameermathad) January 24, 2025 Shreyas Iyer gets a nick that's loud and clear on the microphone. But the umpire doesn't hear it. In fact, umpiring has been pretty substandard in this game, the decisions often going in Mumbai's favour than J&K #RanjiTrophy #MumvsJK — Avijit Ghosh (@cinemawaleghosh) January 24, 2025 Also Read | Watch: Rohit Sharma's Ranji Dismissal Mirrors AUS Test Struggles MUM vs J&K - 1st Session, Day 2 Jammu & Kashmir added 32 runs before being bundled out for 206 in Day 2's opening session. However, the batter was dismissed for 17 off 16 by Auqib Nabi after a controversial catch. At lunch, Mumbai is at 86 for five with Ajinkya Rahane and Shams Mulani at the crease. They have covered the deficit and will now look to build a strong lead.
