The second Australia-South Africa T20I at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin saw a batting clinic by young South African sensation Dewald Brevis. Piling on rapid runs and playing fearlessly, Brevis let loose his entire arsenal of shots to hit a breathtaking hundred — the second quickest in South Africa's T20I history. Against Ben Dwarshuis, Brevis hit a short ball to the fine leg fence to score the milestone in style. It was a moment of raw emotion as he doffed his helmet, lifted his eyes towards the sky, and basked in the cheers of the crowd and his teammates. Brevis played cautiously at the start of his innings, taking time to adjust to the conditions before unleashing a ferocious counterattack. Once established, the 21-year-old was unstoppable, beating loose balls and placing the ball in the gaps with ease. He was handed a lifeline when he was dropped in the middle of his innings — one which Australia would later regret as the young player made them pay dearly. On the other side of the spectrum, Tristan Stubbs did the ideal role play, striding up to acknowledge Brevis when the milestone was reached. The stand saw South Africa in a dominating position approaching the last overs. Brevis' century in a hurry came off only 41 balls, and he now stands at second place in the list of South Africa's fastest T20I centuries. Only one man is ahead of him, David Miller, who achieved the feat in 35 balls against Bangladesh in 2017. The third place belongs to Quinton de Kock, who made a 43-ball century against the West Indies in 2023. South Africa finished with 218/6 in 20 overs, which was their highest innings against the Aussies in a record. Brevis was unbeaten on 125 from just 56 balls, as he had 12 fours and 8 sixes to his credit.
