In a significant development for Delhi Capitals, vice-captain Faf du Plessis and Tristan Stubbs have rejoined the squad ahead of IPL 2025's resumption. Both players returned to their respective home countries last week after the tournament broke for seven days. While du Plessis is expected to remain with the franchise until the end of the season, Stubbs' status is uncertain for beyond the league phase. Delhi Capitals confirmed in a press release that the pair is back in the camp before their important game against Gujarat Titans on May 18. Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc and Donovan Ferreira have opted to sit out the remainder of the season. The franchise respected their decisions and provided their compliments and full support. A DC press release stated: “JSW and GMR co-owned franchise Delhi Capitals on Saturday confirmed that Vice-captain Faf du Plessis and teammate Tristan Stubbs have rejoined the team ahead of the resumption of IPL 2025.” The franchise signed Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman for reinforcements, but he is expected to be available on May 18 at the earliest. Currently, fifth on the points table, DC is competing with Mumbai Indians for the final playoff position. Starc took 14 wickets in 11 matches before getting hurt. JFM was not very good with the bat, scoring only 55 runs in six matches but he could've given depth now. Stubbs has been brilliant scoring 259 runs in 11 matches at an average of 51. If DC makes the playoffs and he has to leave that would be a big loss for the team. To remain in the race, Delhi Capitals will have to win at least two of their last three matches.
