A video started circulating on social media announcing that former Pakistan cricket team's captain Shahid Afridi was dead and buried in Karachi. The video appeared to be a genuine news broadcast, as two anchors informed viewers of his demise. This gave many fans the impression that it must be true. Fans began posting condolence messages for cricket legend Shahid Afridi. But now it has been confirmed that the video is totally fabricated and made by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Shahid Afridi is very much alive and fine, and the news is not true. The video incorporated false footage, such as a photo of a road and an ambulance, and made it appear as if it is a live report. This resulted in confusion and panic among cricket lovers in Pakistan and India. He criticized the Indian army while appearing on Pakistani news channels, stating, "Even if a cracker explodes in India, they blame it on Pakistan… You have an 8 lakh-strong army in Kashmir, yet this happened. This means you are useless." He also said, “India is 10 years behind Pakistan… Pakistan is the fastest-growing country with the best technology.” These remarks led to strong backlash from Indian fans, and Afridi’s social media accounts were also banned in India for spreading hate. Shahid Afridi's Cricketing Career Shahid Afridi represented Pakistan in all formats between 1996 and 2018. He played 27 Tests in which he scored 1716 runs and picked up 48 wickets. Though his career in red ball wasn't attractive, his ODI career was filled with a lot of exciting events and milestones. The all-rounder played 398 ODIs in which he scored 8064 runs and bagged 395 wickets. He also featured for Pakistan in 99 T20Is and accumulated 1416 runs and 98 wickets in this format. Following retirement, he went into politics and is still active in public life.
