Board of Control for Cricket in Indian (BCCI) is set to have a new president in the near future. The incumbent vice-president Rajeev Shukla will take over from Roger Binny as the board's head. Shukla, being a senior Congress leader as well, might be in charge for three months and possibly contest for the full-time president's position at the BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September 2025. Why Roger Binny is Quitting the BCCI Presidency? Roger Binny, a former Indian cricketer and incumbent president of the BCCI, will be 70 years old on July 10, 2025. As per the BCCI norms, any person occupying an office such as the president must resign as soon as they attain the age of 70. This provision has been included in the BCCI constitution by bringing reforms as suggested by the Justice Lodha Committee. Due to this age requirement, Binny has to resign in July. Rajeev Shukla is likely to hold charge temporarily because he is already vice-president and has experience on the board. It will be interesting to know if he decides to contest for a full term in the election to be held later this year.
