On Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test, the crowd at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) paid a heartwarming tribute to one of the greatest leg-spinners and a legendary cricketer, Shane Warne. At exactly 3:50 PM (local time), fans took-off their hats and mimicked Shane Warne's celebration that he used to do after scalping a wicket. This tradition of paying the tribute to the cricket's great was started in 2022's Boxing Day Test and since then, this is followed on every 26th December's Boxing Day Test. Even today, the play was halted for a while at 3:50 PM as everyone in the stadium was involved in this tradition. But the question that would have strike in your mind is, why this tradition of mimicking Shane Warne's celebration is done at exactly 3:50 PM? Here's the reason: The legendary leg-spinner, Shane Warne, was the 350th Test player for Australia and hence, the MCG pays him a heartwarming tribute at local time 3:50 PM. Marnus Labuschagne also added 72 runs before losing his wicket to Washington Sundar. Alex Carey scored valuable 31 runs while Steven Smith (68*) and Pat Cummins (8*) remained unbeaten at the end of day's play. Travis Head didn't enjoy his outing at the MCG as the southpaw was dismissed for a 6-ball duck by Jasprit Bumrah, who ended the day with 3 wickets in his kitty. Ravindra Jadeja and Akash Deep also bagged a wicket each. At the end of Day 1, Australia is at 311 at the loss of 6 wickets and they will look to add 40-50 more runs once the 2nd day's play commences.
