India and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Harshit Rana will miss the most of IPL 2026 season due to knee injury. He picked up an injury while playing for India in T20 World cup warm-up match against South Africa. He was ruled out of T20 world cup because of this. Last month, Rana underwent a surgery for knee injury and has started his rehabilitation. However, there is no timeline given for his return by the medical team of BCCI. There is a high chance that Rana may even miss the entire IPL 2026 season. The injury to the young pacer is a huge blow for Kolkata Knight Riders as he is a key pacer in the team's line-up. However, KKR has not named a replacement for Rana. It is quite likely that KKR already has adequate Indian and overseas bowlers in their squad. Some of the notable Indian fast bowlers are Akash Deep, Umran Malik, Vaibhav Arora, Kartik Tyagi and some overseas names include are Matheesha Pathirana, Blessing Muzarabani and also Cameron Green as an all-rounder. Viral Buzz After Abrar Ahmed Signing Explained Why Harshit Rana will Get his Full salary Though Rana is expected to miss the entire season, he will still get his full salary of INR 4 Crore because of the rules of Board of Cricket for Control of India. The pacer was not injured during the IPL rather he picked it up playing for India which will be covered under the BCCI's insurance policy. This clause has been inserted in the rule book to protect the players from financial crisis during national call up injury. The fast bowler holds a Grade C central contract with BCCI which entitles him for this clause and KKR will not have to compensate him. Kolkata Knight Riders have also added a replacement in their squad, Blessing Muzarabani has been signed as replacement for Mustafizur Rahman who was later released. KKR will play against Mumbai Indians on March 29 at the Wankhede stadium.
