Australia and India are fighting out in the second semi-final of the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. Australia Women, who topped the league stage with six victories from seven games, chose to bat first after winning the toss. The defending champions are 34/1 after six overs, with Kranti Gaud giving India their first breakthrough by getting rid of Australian captain Alyssa Healy. The game was briefly disrupted by a rain break, but action has resumed. Both teams are conscious of what is at stake, with a spot in the final on November 2 hanging in the balance. India, fourth-placed with three wins from seven matches, will look to repeat their 2017 semi-final bravado against the same opponents. The climate in Mumbai is still unpredictable, and the ICC has already made arrangements for such a disruption. A reserve day (October 31) has been scheduled for this semi-final. If the match is not possible to be concluded today because of rain, it will be resumed from where it left off on the reserve day. And if the reserve day rains out as well, Australia will go to the final because they were in a better position on the points table than India. According to ICC's playing conditions, if no result is possible after the reserve day, the higher-ranked team in the league stage goes through to the next stage. If a match is again interrupted, every effort will be made to complete it with a smaller number of overs. But for a game to produce a result, at least 20 overs per team should be bowled. But Alyssa Healy's virtuoso 142 and supporting efforts from her teammates enabled Australia to achieve the target with six balls to spare. This win showcased Australia's maturity and solidity with the game in the final stages, but India have been showing their steel here in the tournament and are eager to fight until the last. With the threat of rain hanging over their heads, both teams hope the weather remains good enough to allow for a merit-based result on the field, and not by the points table.
