The latest recruit of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025 and England's young all-rounder, Jacob Bethell, has etched his name in the history by scoring a fifty in the first ODI at Vidarbha Cricket Association, Nagpur. Bethell scored 51 off 64 with three fours and one six in the series opener against India and, with this, the 21-year-old became the youngest England player to score a half-century in One Day Internationals (ODIs) in India. Previously, the record was held by England's finest batter in modern day cricket, Joe Root. During England's tour of India in 2013, Joe Root smashed a half-century in the 4th ODI at Mohali to become the youngest batter to score a half-century in ODIs in India at the age of 22 years 24 days. Bethell surpassed his fellow teammate by scoring half-century at the age of 21 years and 106 days.
