England Women have selected a 15-player squad for the upcoming one-off Test match against India at Lord's next month, including five uncapped players. The four-day contest, due to commence on July 10, will be the first women's Test to be played at Lord's it will also be Nat Sciver-Brunt's first Test as captain, if she is fit in time to travel following the calf injury that has taken her out of England's current T20 World Cup campaign. England have picked a mix of seasoned internationals and relatively new players for one of the biggest events in women's football. Five Players in Line for Test Debuts The uncapped player who heads the list is Alice Capsey. While she has featured in 89 white ball games for England, the 21-year-old has not yet played a Test match. She has also been joined by 18-year-olds Tilly Corteen-Coleman, Durham all-rounder Mady Villiers, and the pair from Lancashire, Grace Potts and Ellie Threlkeld. Neither Potts nor Threlkeld have yet played for their country in any format. The squad also has returnees in Issy Wong, with one previous Test cap, and Emma Lamb who has two Tests for England to her name. The squad also missed out many of the players who played in England's most recent Test vs. Australia in the 2024-25 Women's Ashes, including Sophia Dunkley, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Ryana MacDonald-Gay, Bess Heath, Charlie Dean and Kate Cross. In the meantime, opener Tammy Beaumont has returned to the squad having not played for England at all during the course of this summer. Speaking after the squad announcement, ECB managing director of women's cricket Clare Connor said: "We have selected a strong Test squad under the leadership of Nat Sciver-Brunt for what will be another historic few days at Lord's for women's cricket." She added: "Test cricket is a rare and wonderfully challenging experience in the women's game and I know how proud our players are to represent England in this format. For the 11 women who will get the chance to be the first to enjoy that feeling at Lord's, it will be a moment to savour." India had announced their squad earlier for the Test with seamer Nandani Sharma, left-arm spinner N Shree Charani getting the nod. England versus India at Lord's now has all the makings of a classic, with a historic venue, a rare Test chance and a number of players vying for their first taste of the format.
