England’s red-ball skipper Ben Stokes is set to make his return to the Test side during the second Test match against Pakistan. Stokes will make his return after missing the last four Test matches due to a hamstring injury. Stokes who got injured during The Hundred tournament in August and got sidelined for almost two months, while in his absence the vice-captain Ollie Pope was handling the team’s responsibilities. Ben Stokes is set to return in place of England's lead pacer, Chris Woakes. In another key change, the ECB has decided to rest fast bowler Gus Atkinson, with young Matthew Potts taking his spot in the playing XI. Interestingly, the England team is preparing for the second Test, which will be held at the same venue starting from October 15. Despite posting a massive first-innings total of over 550 runs, Pakistan faced a crushing defeat. The visiting team is now set to take on a significantly revamped home side, with four senior players - Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Naseem Shah being dropped from the squad. Additionally, Abrar Ahmed will miss the match due to illness.
