On Saturday, day 2 of the second Test against New Zealand, in Wellinton, England's Gus Atkinson shattered the Kiwi lower-order, claiming a sensational hattrik. This happened after seven years that an English bowler produced a hattrick in Test cricket. In the morning session, Atkinson bowled out Nathan Smith for 14, got Matt Henry caught behind in the gully, and trapped Tim Southee in front for an LBW in successive deliveries. With that, Atkinson finished with figures of 4/31, curtailing New Zealand for 125. The other star with the ball, apart from Atkinson, was pacer Brydon Carse, who took 4/46. New Zealand started their day with 86/5 but could only manage 39 runs in the first 40 minutes. Carse bid adieu to Tom Blundell for 16 and night watchman Will O'Rourke for an LBW. The tailenders felt defeated to Atkinson's accuracy and pace. HAT-TRICK FOR GUS ATKINSON!
