Indian vice-captain Rishabh Pant was spotted walking into the media ground at Old Trafford, Manchester, on crutches and sporting a moon boot, which goes on to show the extent of the injury he suffered during the fourth Test against England. The wicket-keeper batter got hurt on Day 1 and was out of the field for most of the time in the match. Pant's injury happened in unfortunate manner while playing India's first innings when he tried a reverse scoop of Chris Woakes. The ball hit his right foot, and he was in pain. He was quickly removed from the ground for medical checkup. Following a detailed test, doctors told Pant to rest for six to eight weeks, effectively ruling out his participation in the five-match Test series. In spite of the injury, Pant returned to the crease on Day 2, limping into it. He scored a fighting half-century before being dismissed by Jofra Archer. His gallant knock went a long way in assisting India in compiling a decent total of 358 in the first innings. As Pant was unable to go out to field afterwards, Dhruv Jurel handled wicketkeeping for the rest of the match. Although his availability as a batter is doubtful, he remains at hand if a do-or-die situation arrives for Team India. When it comes to the game itself, India are fighting tooth and nail to remain in the series. England have the upper hand going into Day 5, though, with India having to get through the day without losing any more wickets. But KL Rahul and skipper Shubman Gill pulled off an incredible recovery, adding a crucial 188-run stand of 417 balls. Rahul was just one run short of a hundred as he got out for 90, while Gill scored a deserving 103. On the last day, England will try to bowl India out and win the series in front of their people. India will have to be extremely composed to prevent the hosts from winning the series and to keep hopes alive.
