Young batter Harry Brook has been named as skipper in place of Jos Buttler, who has now been ruled out of the ODI series against Australia due to a calf injury. Liam Livingstone came is as the replacement of Buttler. He also missed the T20I series against Australia and the Hundred Men's competition for Manchester Originals earlier due to the same injury. Buttler last played in a game during the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final against India in June. He was looking to come back during the knockout stages of T20 Blast but failed to do so as he wasn't yet fully recovered. It will be first time for Harry Brook to lead England in an international match. The 25-year-old has captained the England U19 for the 2018 World Cup as well as Yorkshire in the T20 Blast 2022. He also led the Northern Superchargers in the Hundred this year.
