Indian women's cricket team stalwart, Jhulan Goswami, will become the third cricketer, after Pankaj Roy and Saurav Ganguly, to have a stand on her name at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The Cricket Association of Bengal has announced to dedicate the Block B gallery to her name and will be in action from the T20 match against England on January 22. Since the fast bowler's retirement from international cricket in 2022, CAB has decided to name a gallery in her honor. However, the field belongs to the Indian Army, and it took some time for the board authorities to get necessary permissions. Snehasish Ganguly, the president of the CAB, told Sportstar, “Since the ground belongs to the Indian Army, we sought permission, and they have agreed to our request. So, we have decided to name the B block stand after Jhulan. “ Jhulan has been an icon of the game and it’s our tribute to our incredible achievements for Bengal and Indian cricket.” Read: Khaleel Ahmed Ruled Out From India BGT Squad, Yash Dayal Named as Replacement Earlier, Eden Gardens had stands named after Pankar Roy, Saurav Ganguly, former BCCI presidents late Jagmohan Dalmiya and Biswanath Dutt, along with some of the Army veterans.
