The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will host matches in place of the Chinnaswamy Stadium in the coming ICC Women's World Cup. This followed after the Bengaluru ground could not obtain police clearance for hosting games following the unfortunate stampede on June 4, which resulted in 11 deaths while celebrating Royal Challengers Bengaluru's win in the IPL. The Women's World Cup will be hosted between September 30 and November 2 in five venues: DY Patil Stadium (Navi Mumbai), ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam), and R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo). The DY Patil Stadium will host three group matches, one semifinal, and the potential final. Navi Mumbai Becomes New Hub for Women's Cricket This will be the first time DY Patil hosts a women’s ODI, though it has staged women’s Tests, T20Is, and Women’s Premier League matches. The shift highlights Navi Mumbai’s rising role in the women’s game. In a statement, ICC president Jay Shah stated: "Navi Mumbai has emerged as a genuine home for women’s cricket in recent years. The support it has received during international fixtures and the Women’s Premier League has been remarkable, creating an atmosphere that elevates the players and inspires fans." He further added: "We stand at a pivotal moment in the journey of the women’s game. This World Cup has the potential to be remembered as one of those defining milestones that shaped the sport’s future, not only in India but across the cricketing world."
