The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise, Durbar Rajshahi, is suffering from unpaid dues. According to reports, the franchise has not cleared its payments, which is impacting the players. The team owner, Shafiqur Rahman, was supposed to pay on February 2, but the players are still waiting for their dues. Consequently, the adviser to the government on Sports and Youth Affairs, Asif Mahmud, has reportedly communicated with Rahman and told him of potential outcome in case the arrears are not cleared. In fact, a fact-finding committee has been constituted in this regard as well. Subsequently, the ministry announced that it would pay the dues in three installments before February 10. In case the payment is not cleared, Rahman will be dealt with in the courts. The statement read: “He [Rahman] accepted his fault and promised to clear all dues of the team in three installments of 25 percent each on February 3, 7 and 10, He also assured that alongside the players, everyone involved with the team would also receive their payments in each installment. These players are Mohammad Haris (Pakistan), Aftab Alam (Afghanistan), Mark Deyal (West Indies), Ryan Burl (Zimbabwe), and Miguel Cummins (West Indies). Durbar Rajshahi Finishes Fifth in BPL 2024-25 Durbar Rajshahi secured fifth position at the league with six victories and six losses against 12 played matches. With a bad net run rate, they missed play-offs. The top run scorer for the Rajshahi in BPL 2024-25 is Anamul Haque scoring 392 runs, while the leadinig wicket taker is Taskin Ahmed who could take 25 wickets in the league season.
