Indian red-ball skipper Shubman Gill will captain North Zone in the 2025 Duleep Trophy. Haryana's opening batter Ankit Kumar will be Gill's stand-in-in-charge. Gill is on the back of a successful debut Test series as captain for India with the bat, as well as in the field. In the particular instance of an international assignment arising for Gill, Shubham Rohilla has been appointed as a replacement for Gill. Gurnoor Brar will substitute Arshdeep Singh and Anuj Thakral will replace Harshit Rana on the same terms as stated earlier. The move was compelled as Asia Cup is scheduled to take place from September 9 to September 28 and will clash with the period of the Duleep Trophy. Anshul Kamboj, who has just played his international debut in the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, was another seamer included in North Zone team. Left-arm spin-bowling all-rounders Mayank Dagar and Nishant Sindhu have also been included in the team. The remaining Delhi players in the team apart from Harshit are 22-year-old Yash Dhull and 25-year-old Ayush Badoni. The trio is currently playing in the 2025 edition of the Delhi Premier League. Five Jammu & Kashmir players have been picked for the squad, with opening batsman Shubham Khajuria and medium pacer Auqib Nabi. Auqib was impressive during the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy, remaining the second-highest wicket-taker with 44 scalps in eight games at a spectacular average of 13.93. North Zone will begin their Duleep Trophy campaign against East Zone on August 28 at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
